Software Piracy Rate Drops to 15% in 2008
After expert evaluation, the 2008 China Software Piracy Survey was announced. Chinese software industry generated 757.3 billion yuan in sales revenue in 2008, partly thanks to drop of piracy rate to 15% from 20% in 2007.
The downward of the piracy rate can be attributed to: Almost all PC makers preinstall licensed software; government and large SOEs complete software compliance campaign; software companies invoke a series of legal and technical measures to combat piracy; deep price cut or free use of popular software; consumers have better awareness.
